During his youth, Pilates was involved in fitness, in order to improve his physical appearance and the strengthen of the immune system.
As he get older, he become an expert in gymnastics, boxing, cycling, but also a practitioner well versed  in karate exercises and yoga.
Self-taught, he ended up creating a full set of activities who combines the oriental mentality with the occidental one – gymnastics and yoga, exercises for body and psychic- what is watching the body”s strengthen and the mind”s relaxation.
